Henry in NYC

I am a relatively new addition to the NYC scene. This is my story of growing here. This blog is dedicated to my NYC experience, no matter how trivial some parts of it might be.

Battle Cry

It has been a long time since I have uttered my battle cry. I didn't think I would get the chance, living in NYC. Tonight was my night. We had just left the Central Park NY Philharmonic Symphony concert and were just about at the subway. Suddenly the rain poured and I raced around the corner to the subway staircase, blanket in hand, and shouted my call. The people behind followed suit and we charged the subway. Maybe it was Beethoven's 5th guiding us.

Thai revisited

Maybe my perception of my environment has heightened recently or maybe there are just more of them out there. For the last two days I have seen one per day. Guys wearing Red Bull T shirts with the words printed in Thai. Could it have a significance? I also have one of these T shirts. Maybe I should wear it.

Rooftop party

Last night was an incredible rooftop party between 9th and 10th on 60th. The rooftop was on the 52nd floor and had a magnificent 360 view of Manhattan. Carol and I admired our snug Hell's Kitchen. We had an eclectic group who got along well. The party lasted until about 230A and we drank 8 bottles of wine and ate plenty of cheese.

The payment for the good times was waking up the next morning after 3 hours of sleep and being very hungover on my way to work.

Carol's dad in the city

We just finished enjoying a week with Carol's dad, who was our star engineer during the addition of the ceiling fan and air conditioner and fixing our bed which had squeaked. He also was our expedition leader for IKEA in Hicksville.

Air Conditioning

This is a device that will change your entire relationship with your apartment. For the last month or so it got warmer, I began to feel uncomfortable in my apartment. It was annoying to have such a great apartment, but to be sticky in it and therefore want to always leave. The only issue is fighting over the ideal temperature with my wife. We have both agreed to leave the bedroom ceiling fan on full blast. The arguments ensue and eventual compromises are negotiated over the best temperature and fan speed of the living room AC.
